What is Ikat art?
Ikat, or Ikkat, is a dyeing technique used to pattern textiles that employs a resist dyeing process on the warp fibres, the weft fibres, or in the rare and costly 'double ikat' both warp and weft, prior to dyeing and weaving. Ikat is most characteristic of Indonesia, though ikats have also been woven in India and central Asia. Double ikats are produced in a few places including the Okinawa islands of Japan, the village of Tenganan in Bali, and the villages of Puttapaka[1]and Bhoodan Pochampally in India.
A quick and easy pictorial on my first attempt of Ikat Nail Art, you can do this on one nail or all nails. There is no limitations for colors used. Can be done on short or long nails. I know it is not that great, but I am very happy with my first attempt. Practice makes it perfect.
You need 2-3 diff colors of nail polish besides base color and base coat and topcoat. A small defining nail art brush and a black nail polish for outline.
Hope you enjoy, and do share your photos with me on my instagram or facebook or twitter links on my blog.
