Review and Swatches for Essie Rock the Boat

Happy Monday Girls, a new post, for you. Here is a pastel blue color from Essie called Rock the Boat which is from Summer 2013 collection.

Review :-

This has a tiny silver shimmer but not visible on nails. The brush application is easy, brush is thin like Essie polishes, but easy to apply. It is chip resistant nail polish and did last for 1 week for me. It could have lasted more, but I normally change my nail polish in one week. I really love this nail polish for spring and summer. It is not opaque in one coat, have to apply at least three coats. I know its already fall, but here in Dallas, its still too hot. I still enjoy my pastel colors after a week of dark colors on my nails. Its around $8 in drugstores. Bottle is 13.5ml.

22 Genius Eyeliner Hacks Every Woman Needs to Know

Never let your winged liner make you late for work again from Cosmopolitan

Kathleen Kamphausen

1. Make your eye makeup last longer by setting your eyeliner with a matching eyeshadow.
First line your eyes with a pencil liner, and then lightly dust eyeshadow in the same shade on top of it to hold the liner in place.

Kathleen Kamphausen

2. Use a pencil liner as a guide for tricky liquid liners.
If you're hand isn't steady enough for liquid eyeliner, line your eyes first with a pencil liner, and then trace over it with liquid.

Kathleen Kamphausen

3. Make a less pigmented eyeshadow more vibrant by covering your eyelid with a white eyeliner first.
This will help cancel out the color of your skin, create an even base for the shadow, and make the color pop.

Kathleen Kamphausen

4. Create your own custom eyeliner with a wet liner brush and eyeshadow.
The wet brush will darken the pigments a bit and create a sharp look like a liner.

Kathleen Kamphausen

5. If you have monolids, use a gel or liquid liner and draw a thick arch to create the perfect line.
If your eyelids tends to hide your eyeliner, try drawing an arched line above your lash line a little thicker than you think. When you open your eyes, you'll have perfect-sized lines.

Kathleen Kamphausen

6. Use white eyeliner has a brow highlighter for an instant eye lift.
Line below and above your eyebrows with a thick white liner, and smudge it out with a sponge brush to define your brows.

Kathleen Kamphausen

7. Make your own gel liner by warming the tip of a kohl liner with a lighter.
Hold the tip of the liner right above the flame for a few seconds, and then test the pencil on the back of your hand before lining your eyes.

Kathleen Kamphausen

8. If getting a perfect line is too challenging, draw a rough line first, and then sharpen it with a cotton swab and petroleum jelly.
Sometimes erasing mistakes is easier than trying to nail it the first time.

Elizabeth Griffin

9. For a really natural look, tightline your liner by applying it in between the lashes instead of across the top of the lash line.
The easiest way to do this is to fill in your top lashes from the underside. This will make your eyelashes look fuller but won't leave you looking too made up.

Kathleen Kamphausen

10. Simplify drawing a straight line by lining your eyes with dots first, and then connecting them.
Make sure your dots aren't too big. They should be the same size that you'd like the width of your line to be.

Kathleen Kamphausen

11. Create an eye-opening ombré effect by fading a lighter color into a darker eyeliner.
Start at the inner corner of your eye and line the first 3/4 of your lash line with a light eyeliner, such as white. Then, grab a darker eyeliner and start by lining the outside corner of your eye, move toward the middle of your eye, and stop half way. Grab a sponge brush and begin blending the middle section where the two colors overlap.

Kathleen Kamphausen

12. Use the edges and curves of a spoon to master the perfect cat eye shape.
Use the handle of the spoon to draw the angled line and the curve of the spoon to create the shape. Then fill it in to finish the flick.

Kathleen Kamphausen

13. If your eyeliner is crumbly, freeze it for 10 minutes before lining your eyes.
To prevent eyeliner crumbles from messing up the rest of your makeup, freeze the liner to help it regain its shape.

Kathleen Kamphausen

14. Fix smudges with a skin-colored eyeliner.
If you've smudged your liner a bit too much, draw over it with a skin-colored liner instead of wiping it off and starting over. This is also a great trick if you want to make the line super-sharp.

Kathleen Kamphausen

15. Use the edge of a business card to get the perfect flick.
Try tracing the line if freehand drawing is too tricky.

Kathleen Kamphausen

16. Line your waterline with white liner to make your eyes appear bigger.
Lining the inner rims of your eyes with a dark eyeliner is great for a smoky eye look but can oftentimes make your eyes appear slimmer. Opt for a white liner for a brighter, bigger look.

Kathleen Kamphausen

17. Add glitter liner to instantly transform your look from day to night.
If you don't like to wear eyeshadow but want to amp up your makeup for the night, trace over your liner with a glitter liner.

Kathleen Kamphausen

18. Get the perfect smoky eye by drawing a hashtag on the outer corner of your eyelid and smudging it out with the sponge.
Keep drawing hashtags and smudging it out to get a darker, smokier look.

Kathleen Kamphausen

19. For a more precise angle of your winged liner, draw the flick toward your eye instead of away from it.
Drawing this backward direction will make it easier to determine where the end of the flick will be.

Kathleen Kamphausen

20. Use mascara as eyeliner with a liner brush.
If you don't have any eyeliner, use some of the product on the brush of a mascara wand to line your eye.

Kathleen Kamphausen

21. Use brown instead of black for a more universally flattering look.
An ashy brown liner works on all eye colors and shapes and is less harsh than black.

Elizabeth Griffin

22. Use clear tape as a no-fail cat eye guide.
Place the edge of the tape in line with your bottom lash line and angle the top toward the end of your eyebrow.

10 Lipstick Rules To Live By from Marie Claire

This post is for all lipsticks addicts like me:)

lips
The perfect pout doesn't have to be a one time thing. Follow these easy steps to keep your lipstick game top notch.
1. Treat your lips like you would your face. Remove makeup, exfoliate, moisturize. Repeat.

2. Timing is everything. If you're having casual drinks or dinner with your friends before a big night out, wait to put on your lipstick. You won't constantly be worrying about messing it up while you eat (which is the worst).

3. When playing up your lips, keep your eye makeup minimal. Makeup is like a balancing act, pick one feature and go big.

4. Find the right color. Not all hues are created equal, at least for you. Different skin tones work better with different shades, so try a bunch on and choose wisely—a good lipstick is a forever kind of thing.

5. Use a primer. Think super staying power through your meetings, lunch, and happy hour drinks. We recommend NARS Instant Line & Pore Perfector.

6. Liner can be your best friend or your worst enemy. Find the right lip liner and it'll stop your lipstick from feathering throughout the day. Choose the wrong color, and you're channeling Gwen Stefani circa 1997. Our advice? Go for a clear lip pencil—it's silky smooth and compliments every lip shade. We recommend Merle Norman Clear Lip Pencil.

7. Start in the middle. Begin applying lipstick at the center of your lips and move outward. That way, you'll be less shaky when it comes to the outer lines of your lips. Less shaky = less mistakes.

8. Highlight along your cupids bow. As well as along the middle of your lower lip. The small touch will reflect light and make your lips look nice and plump. We recommend YSL Touche Eclat.

9. Take it off before you go to sleep. The only bad thing about having a clean, white pillowcase? That baby is a lipstick magnet.

10. Always give yourself a day off. Let your lips stay au natural for at least one day a week and so you can slough off dead skin cells, moisturize, and have one glorious morning to sip coffee sans lipstick stains.   Disclaimer:- Article from Marie Claire magazine

Review and Swatches for Lancome Color Design Lipstick "Wannabe"

Hi Girls,

Today I am reviewing a lipstick from Lancome Color Design called “Wannabe”. This is a cream finished lipstick. It retails for $22.50. I got this from Macys from Lancome display. This is one of my firs high end lipstick. I love this color and would totally recommend this color to everyone who want to try high end lipstick.

It is such a great bright fuschia color perfect for all seasons. It is quite pigmented in one coat, but still you can build up more to get more color. It is very creamy in texture and it feels very comfortable on lips because it is very moisturizing also. It lasts quite long on lips. It does not stain. But it does not need touch up that often.

Ulta Extreme Gel Eyeliner in "Ink"

Happy Friday Girls:)

Today I am going to talk about Gel Eyeliner from Ulta called "INK"

Review :-

Recently I got this eyeliner from Ulta. It was on clearance at $2, but it was marked down from 8$. Which I think is overpriced for this gel liner.

It is 3g / 0.11 oz. This color is called “ INK”. It is cobalt blue color.

It is very soft in texture, as for gel liner texture. Normally I have used gel liner which are little thick and buttery in texture. Due to this thin and soft texture, it is hard to apply gel liner on your eyes. Let it dry for two seconds and then reapply on the same line. It will give more color. It gets on lashes also while applying but dries pretty quickly if you want to use two coats.

As you see below, I have literally digged in to get some color on my brushes. I got this color as blue is my favorite color. There were three more colors I saw one was deep purple, brown and black.

Chitra Pal Ulta Extreme Wear Gel Eyeliner in Ink (3)

You can use eyeliner brushes like these two seen below. Both brushes are good in applying gel liner. They are really easy to use.

I have used Elf Angled Eyeliner Brush in first picture of swatches below  (with glasses). I have used Real Technique's fine liner brush in my second picture.

Swatches on Eyes:-

I do wear glasses, so I just wanted to show you my picture in glasses, so that girls who wear glasses can get an idea how it will look in glasses. This is very good makeup for glasses.

Overall I was not impressed with this gel eyeliner. Also the original price for this as 8$ is overpriced for this quality of eyeliner. You could try other cheap eyeliners in market. It was hard to remove it, always use oil base eye makeup remover for these.

Essence Cosmetics Long Lasting Lipstick–Adorable Matt 14

Hi Girls,
As you know , this week I am reviewing my recent favorites Lipsticks I picked up from Ulta, they are Long Lasting Lipsticks from “Essence Cosmetics”.
I already reviewed two “Wear Berries” and “Coral Calling , today I have third one called “Adorable Matt
They are just $2.99 for 0.13oz/ 3.8g. It has a E logo printed on the lipstick and the rim where the cap closes it has a color of the lipstick ring,s o that you can choose the color of lipstick. There are 16 colors on their website from Neutrals to Pink, Red and Oranges too.
Essence Claims:- the lipsticks provide your lips with intensive color for several hours without drying them out. you’re sure to find whatever you’re looking for – from bright pink to intensive red and chilled-out berry to subtle nude shades. the essence logo on the texture and the matt, black packaging with a ring of color to match the actual color of the lipstick are true eye-catchers!
My Review This color is prefect red color for fall and winters, it is a creamy matt not drying at al. It goes on beautifully not at all patchy , pigmentation is really good as but you can build more to get little darker. The texture is creamy and slides on your lips and makes them look fuller and smoother. It has a lipstick smell, but goes on after you use once. It feels comfortable and non drying. But it does not last long though, it lasted for 3 hours for me. Then I had to reapply, but I don’t mind. It does leave light stain on your lips. I would totally recommend these colors for fall. For this price it is absolutely beautiful everyday color.
